The Turndown Service

What Lingers

The keycard sensor turns green, and you exhale… finally home. Dimmed lights and closed curtains, with the corner of the duvet pulled back at an angle. Slippers set out, parallel, on top of a crisp white sheet. Chocolate on the pillow, next to it a small handwritten card with tomorrow’s weather. Someone quietly took care of your evening, and that memory lives with you.

That’s turndown service. It’s one of my favorite parts of traveling, and it’s the closest word I have for what I want to write about here.

I want to capture and write about things that make me feel that way in life. The little things that are memorable, that you think about from time to time, and the feeling you hold onto for a very long time.

That’s the theme of this blog. Small things, lingering feelings, paid attention to. Welcome.
